Our board

Active Gloucestershire is a charity and company limited by guarantee. As such, our board of trustees are also Directors and are responsible for the overall governance and administration of the charity including:

  • setting the strategic direction for the organisation
  • maintaining the financial health and well-being of the organisation including reviewing risk
  • upholding the reputation of organisation
  • scrutinising the performance of the organisation and holding the executive staff to account.
  • ensuring that Active Gloucestershire operates in accordance with charitable and company law and in line with its governing documents

  • Tania Jane Hamilton (People Lead)

    • Owner and Director of Hamilton’s HR LTD; HR Specialist and Consultant.
    • Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.
    • ACAS trained Mediator, resolving conflict using mediation skills.
    • Accredited CIPD Certificate of Achievement on the West Midlands Employers Aspire HR Business Partner Programme.
    • Diverse HR experience of public, private and non-profit organisations.
    • Contributor, co-presenter/guest on radio shows (Gloucester FM, Radio Newark).
    • Marathon runner; London; New York, Brighton, Manchester.
    • Registered Athlete with Gloucester Athletics Club and England Athletics.
    • Classically Trained Singer, band leader/manager and songwriter.
    • Charity fundraiser and events co-ordinator.
      Proud Godmother to four amazing Godchildren.
  • Jon McGinty (Senior Independent Director)

    Active Gloucestershire Board Member

    • Managing Director at Gloucester City Council and Commissioning Director at Gloucestershire County Council.
    • Jointly employed by Gloucester City Council and Gloucestershire County Council since July 2015 to provide strategic leadership and joined up working across the two Councils and beyond.
    • Previously Deputy Chief Executive at Aylesbury Vale District Council, where he chaired the local Community Safety Partnership and the Buckinghamshire Youth Offending Service Management Board.
    • Previously Board Member of Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes County Sports Partnership (LEAP) and helped deliver Opening Ceremonies at Stoke Mandeville for 2012 Summer Paralympic Games and 2014 Winter Paralympic Games.
    • Prior to joining Local Government, a Civil Servant policy advisor and analyst for sixteen years, undertaking a variety of roles at the Office for National Statistics and latterly the Department for Communities and Local Government.
    • Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.
    • FA level 1 football coach currently studying for level 2 qualification. Plays football and badminton socially.
  • Alice Cline

    Active Gloucestershire Board Member

    • Senior Behavioural Scientist at Public Health Wales working across topics such as physical activity, sustainable travel, screening services and vaccine uptake.
    • Previously Senior Public Health Practitioner and Gloucestershire County Council, working on the Covid-19 pandemic response.
    • Completed a PhD which involved researching and evaluating public health interventions aimed at increasing childhood physical activity in Gloucestershire, working with over 1000 children to enable more physical activity through the school day.
    • BSc (Hons) in Social Science, MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health and qualified personal trainer.
    • Guest lecturer providing insight into public health, childhood physical activity, intervention design and evaluation.
    • Enjoys running, gym-ing and keeping up with her naughty spaniel
  • Sian Trew

    Active Gloucestershire Board Member

    • Works as Director of Communications and Engagement at the AHSN Network, which acts as the innovation arm of the NHS.
    • Previously led communications in NHS commissioning for BNSSG CCG/ICB.
      Chartered and accredited member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and also has a PR diploma from the CIPR.
    • Started career working as a journalist before moving into media relations, PR and communications.
      Has professional and postgraduate qualifications in communications, journalism and leadership.
    • Previously Non-executive Director on the board at Hockey Wales; and has held voluntary roles in sports media and marketing, including working in press operations at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
    • Worked in communications and media relations for the British Paralympic Association up to and including the Beijing 2008 Paralympics.
    • Outside of work – enjoys running and has run two marathons (London and Paris).
    • Mum to 3 children and a dog!
  • Dan Constable

    Active Gloucestershire Board Member

    • Finance Director at Arcadis, leading international teams responsible for commercial, financial accounting & long-term strategy.
    • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualified, Fellowship status.
    • Previously gained a huge variety of global finance experience over 20+ years working in different functions and countries at Dyson.
    • Currently enjoys mentoring individuals sharing and advising them in career, life & wellbeing.
    • Outside of work enjoys watching and playing football, currently playing in Stroud league and treasurer of the club. Also enjoys running in any free time.
